What my pupils say
K. Turk -
"I first received Alexander Technique training after injuring my shoulder and arm playing the double bass. Not only did the pain and discomfort become less, but I also learnt how to deal with my recurrent neck and back problems, a result of a whiplash injury. This has been invaluable on the occasions when I have woken up unable to move my neck at all. The technique has actually made the difference between being able to get out of bed or not.
Gemma is a very understanding and intuitive teacher, and the treatments/lessons are wonderful. You come out of them walking on air! I am happy to report that I am now playing the bass again, without ill effects."

"Gemma is a very special teacher and makes the Alexander Technique much more than learning about good posture. Her sensitivity and compassionate connection with the body, her awareness and healing energy, her natural ability to connect with the individual and her light sense of humour – make her sessions a rich and delightful experience leading to gentle yet powerful changes."

"The Alexander Technique has taught me how to listen to my body, recognise symptoms of stress, which causes my body to tense and apply the technique to help deal with the situation by being more conscious of my posture. As a rheumatoid arthritis sufferer this has really helped avoid the big knots of pain I used to get in my shoulders and neck without having to resort to pain relief medication. Something I didn't expect is how much a simple thing like having a proper body alignment helps with a general sense of wellbeing and control. Gemma is a super teacher, really good at explaining the concepts and encouraging application of the technique in everyday situations – queues are no longer boring they are an opportunity to practice my AT!"
M. Farr -
"I have been practising the Alexander Technique for over twenty years. I started having lessons following the birth of my daughter because I experienced neck and shoulder discomfort whilst I was breast feeding. The technique helped me work out what I was doing to myself to create these postural problems and helped me recognise how I could put them right. The technique has enabled me to develop body awareness and the ability to correct poor use by working on myself both with a teacher but also on my own. Over the years, I have found the technique helpful in improving voice production, breathing and mobility as well as helping the problem with my posture I first identified. I have had a number of Alexander teachers and have been having lessons with Gemma for about ten years (I think!)."

"Gemma Taylor is a very informative, learned teacher of the Alexander Technique. She is very comfortable to be with and her instruction is accessible and extremely useful. I have benefitted from 12 sessions of AT and use it daily in the car, whilst watching TV and walking to work."
